About David Powell
David Powell has an Academic background in Applied Mathematics and Operations Research as well as Business (MBA). He was previously a Participant in high technology including computing and networking as a Member of Technical Staff, algorithm designer and Product Manager. He subsequently pursued interests in Health Care by doing coursework and research in Public Health, Pharmaceutical Economics, Integrated Medicine and Neurobiology. He is currently focused on research, analysis and writing on the status and evolution of Health Insurance and the application of Artificial Intelligence to Public Health problems and issues.
Artificial Intelligence (AI) has emerged as a key driver of technological development, economic opportunity and competition at the company and national levels. As a natural evolution of key computing technologies, AI reaches deeply into our networked ecosystem – including search engines and social media.
This series of lectures will investigate how AI may be responsible for reshaping business processes, social norms and economic prosperity in addition to its computational aspects. The course will cover the following major AI topics: History and Evolution; impact on National Industrial Policy; innovation in small companies vs. large companies; industry transformations; potential impacts on jobs and employment; and finally AI ethics, privacy and accountability considerations.
