3rd Annual Auction-Dinner Fundraiser for Concord Historical Soc.
"Hail to our Veterans"
Join Concord Historical Society for a fabulous evening of food, fellowship and fun at our third annual dinner-auction, "Hail to our Veterans". It’s being held on November 11, 2017 at Centre Concord, 5298 Clayton Rd, 5:00-9:00 p.m. Catering by Englund’s Café, a live auction with auctioneer John Perreira, silent auction, raffle, balloon pop, grab bag and dessert auction are only a few of the planned activities. Among the auction items: one week at a Twain-Harte cabin, one week in a luxury condo in Vail, Colo., a watercolor by an award winning artist, and tickets to both Giants baseball and Cal basketball. All proceeds benefit the ongoing restoration and expansion of the former Masonic Lodge, now known as the Concord Museum and Event Center (CMEC) at 1928 Clayton Rd., which is now available for rental. Tickets are $60 per person, or $600 for a table of 10. For reservations and more info., purchase your tickets securely on-line through our website, contact Lind Higgins at 925-682-6383, or mail us a check (refer to our website). Our Event Coordinator, Carol Longshore, can provide more information, 925-685-6710. “Last year, one of the greatest benefits of this event was seeing long-time Concord residents reunite with friends they hadn’t seen in years,” according to CHS president Carol Longshore. “There was a real feeling of community.” For nearly 45 years Concord Historical Society has been preserving, restoring and sharing the history of Concord, including the restoration and opening of the Galindo Home and Gardens to the public and educational programs for school children. Since 2013, when the Historical Society arranged to have the former Masonic Lodge building moved to its current site, the Society has been working tirelessly to renovate and improve the structure. Reaching their goal of raising an additional $500,000 will enable the Society to complete the renovations. The building’s first floor, houses an event center, and, within the near future, a catering kitchen. The second floor museum and education-resource center will feature the Society’s extensive artifact collection. When completed, the Concord Museum and Event Center will proudly take part in the city’s Sesquicentennial (150th anniversary) in 2018 – preserving the spirit of Concord past for future generations and playing an integral part in revitalizing the downtown as Concord moves into the future.
