Get CERT Trained in April

Become a volunteer Disaster Service Worker for the City of Walnut Creek by taking the upcoming Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) training.   CERT classes are a combination of lecture and hands-on training and include light search and rescue, disaster medical operations, and CERT team organization. Skills students learn include use of hand-held radios, when and how to shut off gas, and how to properly operate a fire extinguisher.

Walnut Creek CERT Basic Training classes will be held at City Hall starting on Wednesday, April 5, from 6:30-9:30pm. Classes run for seven consecutive Wednesdays, plus a Saturday morning drill on May 20 at Heather Farm Park. Space is limited, and classes fill up quickly. There is a $25 program fee, payable the first day of class. Register online at and click on the “departments” tab and then “public safety.” Evening spring series: April 5 - May 17, 6:30-9:30 pm; Final Drill: Sat., May 20, 7:30am-2 pm, City Hall, 3rd floor conference room (open to all).
