North Downtown Specific Plan Committee Being Formed

Over 40 people attended the introductory Open House on the North Downtown Specific Plan on April 18.  The city received many comments and ideas, which will be considered during the planning process. Based on community feedback, membership eligibility was expanded for the North Downtown Advisory Committee to include residents, property and business owners in adjacent neighborhoods.

The City received a $657,000 grant from the Contra Costa Transportation Authority to pay for technical studies, project management and public outreach. The City is contributing staff to collaborate on this plan. North Downtown’s proximity to BART, the trail system and the 24/680 corridors make it highly attractive for future development. The Specific Plan is a holistic approach to creating a comprehensive long-term vision that outlines what to protect and what goals to pursue as development occurs.
