At the Round Earth's Imagined Corners
Organ music from Germany, England, France and the United States
Shattering all expectations (and hopes), Mr. Auerbach returns to Our Savior's this time as organist in a broad program spanning 3 centuries and 4 distinct styles of organ music. From the Germans comes Buxtehude's Praeludium in E major and Bach's Prelude and Fugue in d minor (The Fiddle). Hopping across the channel to England, Solemn Procession and Consolation by Alec Rowley and John Cook's Paean on Divinum mysterium follows. (That's Latin, although the organ will be played in English.) The second half will see America first, with Heraldings by J. Hebble, organist at the Crystal Cathedral, and Behnke’s Variations on Kum Bah Ya. Then it's back across the pond to France for Paul Benoit's Four Images of Christ and the Final from Organ Symphony I by Louis Vierne. Free Admission / Freewill Offerings appreciated.
