Janet Popesco Archibald holds the position of Solo English Horn with the San Francisco Opera Orchestra. A San Francisco native, she attended the University of Cincinnati College Conservatory of Music & received her Bachelor & Master of Music degrees from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. Her recording credits include the soundtracks for the films 'Once Upon a time in Mexico', 'Ricochet' 'Young Indiana Jones Chronicles' & 'Into the Wild', and the Grammy-nominated cd recording of Gluck's opera, 'Orphee & Eurydice' with the San Francisco Opera.
Margaret Wong Fondertasse has devoted her adult years to finessing the art of accompanying, chamber music, and teaching. A former student of John McCarthy, Anne Crowden and Janet Guggenheim, she earned a BA with honors in chamber music from UC Berkeley. This was followed by an auspicious grant, the Hertz Fellowship, which enabled her to pursue postgraduate studies with John Wilson at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester, United Kingdom.
A member of the San Francisco Opera Orchestra since 1988, Emil Miland made his solo debut with the San Francisco Symphony at age 16 and the same year was selected to perform in the Rostopovitch Master Classes at the University of CA, Berkeley. The San Francisco Classical Voice states 'Emil Miland is a unique phenomenom. There is just something about the way he connects the qualities of style, grace, virtuosity, and real soul that remind one of no other cellist". He gave the would premiere of David Carlson's Cello Concerto No.1 with the Santa Fe Symphony and subsequently recorded it wiht the Utah Symphony (new World Records). Carlson's Cello Concerto no. 2 was written for Miland and the New Century Chamber Orchestra where Emil served as founding Principal Cellist for 9 years.
