"Original Jazz and R&B”
"The sound we go for is this: Charles Mingus meets the Meters. They play at Duke Ellington's house, and Thelonious Monk sits in once in a while."
Bassist Kurt Ribak spent his childhood singing with San Francisco Boys Chorus when other boys were in the Boy Scouts or shooting pool. To this day he is an atrocious pool player.
Eventually he realized there was a musical world in addition to Mahler, Puccini and Wagner. He began playing electric bass, studying at Berklee College of Music (where he graduated summa cum laude) and then taught himself upright bass.
