Save the County Jail Fundraiser at Armando's

Help save the beautiful County gem on September 23rd!!

HELP SAVE THE BEAUTIFUL 1903 HISTORIC COUNTY JAIL! The Architectural Preservation Foundation of Contra Costa County (APFCCC) is holding a high-energy, informative fundraiser at Armando’s, the popular live music venue in downtown Martinez. The public is invited and encouraged to bring friends, neighbors and former County jail employees to share stories, enjoy live music and hear about how APFCCC is working toward saving the beautiful historic 1903 Jail from demolition. The line-up at Armando’s includes a special performance by local band Ancestral Water, refreshments, light snacks, and rare photographs of the 1903 Historic County Jail. ABOUT THE EVENT Many County residents are unaware that the future of the 1903 Historic County Jail is still uncertain. In 2019, it is possible the County Board of Supervisors will vote to demolish the 1903 granite beauty so that parking spaces or alternate County use may be put in its place. Temporarily, the 1903 Historic Jail will remain intact as the APFCCC was able to reach an agreement, in April of this year, to delay any a further action on demolishing the jail for two years. To learn more about the event or assist in their efforts by volunteering time and expertise, contact the APFCCC by phone at (925) 352-3334, by email or visit their Facebook page Save Martinez's Historic Old Jail.
