Under the direction of the Pleasant Hill Police Department, volunteers are trained to help family, neighbors and the community during emergencies and disasters. Following FEMA guidelines the CERT training course covers: Disaster Preparedness, Fire Safety, Disaster Medical Operations-Triage and Treating Life Threatening Injuries, Disaster Medical Operations-Assessment, Treatment and Hygiene, Light Search and Rescue, Team Organization, Disaster Psychology and Terrorism. Currently PH CERT is offering an Emergency Preparation Speaker series, co-sponsored by the Pleasant Hill Recreation and Park District, earthquakes, floods and hazardous materials are some of the subjects covered by experts from the USGS, CCCo Flood Control and Water Conservation District, Contra Costa Health Services Dept.
