It's Electrifying! New trolleys coming to Walnut Creek

Walnut Creek’s green downtown trolleys will be even greener come November, when County Connection replaces the existing diesel fueled trolleys with electric ones, thanks to a $4.3 million federal grant. The trolleys will be the stars of a ribbon cutting ceremony taking place in front of the Lesher Center for the Arts at 10am November 5.  County Connection crews will begin construction of the new inductive charging station that will allow the new fully electric trolleys to charge during the course of the day while remaining in service. The four new electric trolleys are expected to be in service by early November.

The Free Ride Trolleys will continue to run between the Walnut Creek BART station, the downtown shopping district, and the Broadway Plaza. The trolley service will remain completely free to the public, thanks to continued funding by the City of Walnut Creek. The new buses will be put into service on Sunday, November 6 -- just in time for the start of the busy holiday shopping season!
