The Walnut Run

Aug 29, 2015 01:17PM ● Published by Jennifer Neys

The race will begin at 8:00 a.m. for both the 5K and the 10K. It will be a chip start, which means that timing starts immediately after a participant crosses the starting mat. The starting line will be located at 1201 Main Street in front of Lululemon. This section of Main Street will be closed to vehicles throughout the duration of the event.

We encourage runners/walkers to make their way to the start line around 7:15 a.m. so you may hear pre-race announcements, opening words from the mayor, and our national anthem.

For those who are looking to register on race day, please allow additional time for registration. Our booths will be open to the public at 6:00 a.m.

There will be a new finish line/event area for 2015!  Our finish line will be located on S Main Street just north of Olympic Blvd. The 5K course will be one complete loop of the course.  The 10K course will include a second loop before crossing the finish line.  After the final participant crosses the finish line, we will have the western half of S Main Street blocked off from Broadway Plaza on the south to Botelho Dr. to the north.

The Walnut Run was started by a group of local Walnut Creek residents who share a love for health and our community. They created an event where the net proceeds, raised from the event are donated back to local participating Walnut Creek schools, as well as the Walnut Creek Education Foundation and PEAK Education  Foundation.
