The stars are aligned for another stellar Star Gazing event on Tuesday evening, August 18th from 6:30pm-9:30pm at John Muir Land Trust’s Fernandez Ranch, a permanently protected 702-acre natural area.
This popular event, sponsored by JMLT in partnership with the Mt. Diablo and East Bay Astronomical Societies and Chabot Space & Science Center, offers something for everyone! We will begin with an optional walking tour 6:30pm-7:30pm, followed by an ice cream social, views through the Astronomical Societies’ phenomenal telescopes, and expertise of the night sky! Child-friendly materials and a demonstration of how to use the binoculars and equipment will be included.
This evening promises great views of a crescent moon, Saturn and its ring system and the Andromeda Galaxy some 2.3 million light years distant.
The event is open to the public, free of charge and ADA accessible. To ensure comfortable viewing, guest should bring a blanket and/or chair and flashlight. Budding and experienced photographers alike are encouraged to bring a camera to capture the evening beauty of Fernandez Ranch. Your photograph may be selected for JMLT’s website!
