Welcome, travel fans, to 2015! I’m so excited for the New Year and the potential it holds for each of us. Travel enriches our lives through learning, exploring, and experiencing the world, and whether it’s the next town over or across the Atlantic, our view of life is forever enhanced.
Here are my top three travel experiences for 2015:
European River Cruising If you’ve heard about river cruising and are intrigued, 2015 offers more itineraries than ever! The beautiful Blue Danube is a perfect choice for the first time river cruiser. The AmaWaterways’ Vilshofen (Munich) to Budapest itinerary will take you through the heart of Germany, Austria, and Hungary. Visit the Benedictine Abbey in Melk; tour the Schönbrunn Palace in Vienna; and marvel at the iconic Budapest Parliament Building during a nighttime illumination cruise. Why AmaWaterways? Because it is an “all-inclusive” experience, with meals, lodging, beverages (leaded and un-leaded) and excursions included in your price.
Tuscan Culinary Walking Tour Experience gorgeous Tuscany through her people and cuisine! Backroads’ Tuscan Active Gourmet Walking Tour will take you on a journey that nurtures both your body and spirit. You’ll discover the secrets of Tuscan cooking and engage in the preparation of fresh farm-to-table meals that embody the flavors of the region. With three levels of walking activity to choose from daily, this adventure can be customized to your own comfort level.
Hawaii Through a Different Lens The Bay Area is fortunate to be so close to the lovely Hawaiian Islands! Many Californians have experienced one or more islands by land…but how about by sea? Norwegian Cruise Lines’ Pride of America sets sail from Honolulu and visits the Big Island, Kauai, and Maui. This is an amazing way to see multiple islands in just seven days, with the convenience of unpacking just once! With a total of 108 hours docked in port throughout your week, you can explore to your heart’s content. Shore excursions range from the adventurous (tree-top zip lining in Kauai) to the relaxed (whale watching and a sunset cruise on Maui, anyone?) There is truly something for everyone!
In the spirit of the New Year, go out and see the world! Bask in the sunshine at an all-inclusive resort in Mexico or Jamaica; enjoy your first cruise or your fiftieth; check something off your must-do “bucket list” - you’ll be glad you did. Don’t wait another minute! Embrace all the choices travel has to offer because regardless of what you may have been told earlier in your life, the world really does revolve around you!
