City of Martinez to Host Free Eco-Friendly Workshops

The City is pleased to announce it is accepting reservations for two more free workshops in the New Year in support of its recycling, resource conservation and Climate Action Plan initiatives.  

The first class is called "Sustainable Citizen," and is scheduled for Saturday, January 10th, 2015 from 10 a.m. to noon in the City Council Chambers located at 525 Henrietta Street.  

Sustainable Citizen is a fun, exciting and informational class designed to educate participants on the importance of sustainability; teach simple and effective ways to make sustainable practices part of your everyday life; and even show you how sustainable practices can save you money!!!   This class is well suited to anyone interested in becoming better stewards of the environment, so feel free to bring the whole family.   Make your 2015 New Year's Resolution to be a Sustainable Citizen.  Simply email or call the City’s recycling hotline at (925) 372-3531 to register today.

The second class is “Home Composting” and is scheduled for Saturday, January 24th, 2015 from 10 a.m. to noon in the City Council Chambers located at 525 Henrietta Street.  

Home Composting is a fun class that shows you how to easily turn your yard trimmings and food scraps into high quality soil amendments great for your yard and garden, kind to our environment and good for you too!  Save money, save water, and conserve natural resources.  High-quality compost bins will be offered during the class for $58.  Registration is simple, just email, or call (925) 372-3531.
